I originally purchased this book online because I knew Brenda vaguely through our joint affiliation with Learning Disabilities Association, and knew her to be an interesting person. Like other readers, I soon found myself very much caring about what happened to the realistic characters in this novel. These are not the usual fictional people whose adventures are above and beyond something that could ever happen to us, or someone we know. It is easy to recognize that Brenda has an intimate awareness of the way life sometimes "just happens." Her book is beautifully written, in a down-to-earth style, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in people as they are.
